Atlanta native William J. Boddie Jr. is the founder and managing partner of The Law Firm of Boddie & Associates, LLC., with law offices in downtown Atlanta and Douglasville, Georgia. Boddie has an extensive criminal defense law practice and is also a plaintiff’s attorney who handles personal injury and premises liability cases.

A graduate of Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Boddie was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, GA. While pursuing this degree, Boddie was a member of two national mock trial teams on which he represented the Mercer School of Law. He also performed several internships, with the first being with the National Criminal Defense College under the leadership of Dean Deryl Dantzler. That same year, he assisted the Houston County Public Defender’s Office with the defense of a rape case, sitting as second-chair at the jury trial and obtaining a not-guilty verdict for his client. Boddie’s third internship was with renowned Criminal Defense Attorney and Law Professor Cynthia W. Roseberry, where he gained invaluable training and experience in federal criminal defense representation and superior court trial procedures.

Upon graduation from the Mercer School of Law, Boddie was offered an Assistant Public Defender position with the Fulton County Public Defender’s Office in Atlanta, where he represented more than 450 indigent clients who had been charged with felony crimes. In April 2008, Boddie formed The Law Firm of Boddie & Associates, LLC. which specializes in criminal defense and personal injury.

A successful private practitioner, Boddie handles cases ranging from simple assault to battery upon a public official to aggravated child molestation. He has conducted numerous jury trials throughout the state of Georgia and has represented clients in such high-profile cases as the Atlanta Public School Cheating Scandal and The Occupy Atlanta Case. Boddie is also had years of experience in defending narcotics and civil forfeiture cases. He has had oral arguments before both the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia on civil forfeiture and police traffic stop issues.

Admitted to practice in the Superior and State Courts of Georgia, The Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court, Boddie is a member of the State Bar of Georgia (Criminal Section and Young Lawyers Division) and a bar member of the United States District Court Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Other professional organizations to which he belongs include the National Bar Association, the Gate City Bar Association, Clayton County Bar Association, Cobb County Bar Association, Gwinnett Bar Association, and Northwest Georgia Bar Association (Cobb County). Boddie is also a contributing member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

A frequent lecturer and panel member in seminars on criminal defense law and U.S. Constitutional Law issues involving the Fourth Amendment, Boddie was an invited guest on the Derrick Boazman radio show on WAOK 1380 AM where he discussed important legal issues that affected the practice of law and the general public. He has also been a presenter for a “Knowing Your Legal Rights” Legal Town Hall hosted for members of the community by V-103 FM, WAOK 1380 AM and Let Us Make Man (LUMM).

Boddie has also been interviewed and featured on multiple media outlets regarding high-profile cases he has handled, including the Douglas County Sentinel, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Fulton County Daily Report, FOX 5 News, 11Alive News and Channel 2 Action News. In addition, he has spoken to college classes at Brown Mackie College, Clark Atlanta University, Clayton State University, and Georgia Southern University. A firm believer in supporting his local community, Boddie is involved in several civic, business and political organizations that include the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, Douglas County Democratic Party, the City of Douglasville Housing Group, Let Us Make Man (LUMM), and Boddie serves on the Advisory Board for the Fulton Leadership Academy (FLA) in East Point, GA, and is a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church, North in Atlanta, GA.
